In recognition of October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, CPM Community Partners, the philanthropic arm of Chicago Parking Meters, LLC (CPM), has donated $10,000  to the Avon Foundation for Women’s Breast Cancer Crusade.

“Breast cancer kills more than 40,000 people each year,” said CPM General Counsel Rahsaan Sales.  “We want to do our part, both to raise awareness about this terrible disease and support programs that are helping to fight breast cancer on the ground here in Chicago.”

Sales joined Avon’s Chicago staff for a tour of Northwestern University Hospitals facilities supported by the foundation: the Avon Breast Cancer Research Labs; the Lynn Sage Comprehensive Breast Center and the Maggie Daley Center for Women’s Cancer Care.

“Support if this kind is so essential. These donations allow us to fund Chicago facilities such as  the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern University which is doing groundbreaking breast cancer research,” said Megan Monaghan, Operations Manager for Avon Walk for Breast Cancer-Chicago. “Avon also supports programs that provide access to breast care for low-income women at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Erie Family Health Center.  We are excited about the support of CPM Community Partners and their contribution to help in the fight to eradicate breast cancer. “

CPM Community Partners launched in June 2010 and has already established a track record of supporting Chicago organizations, including the National Foundation of Teaching Entrepreneurship and Chicago Youth Centers.

CPM Community Partners will be involved in the 2011 Chicago Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, which will be held June 4 – 5, 2011.
